Well, this week hss been a busy week for us with ongoing projects all over town but yet we found some time to take delivery of our new workstation 64 bit computers. And the latest versions of AutoCAD products (Map, Civil 3D, and several other product bundled).
There was a problem installing 2012 Map but I've been using both the Civil 3D and just Autocad 2012. I really like them both and they whizz right along on the new machines.
Our IT guy was trying to fix my Map install remotely. I call this ghosts in the machine because when they take over stuff happens and you are left as a spectator. And it even has a little chat box if they need to ask you a question. He did the repair and a few other things but nothing work so he needed me to insert the geek whistle that the products came on to do a complete re-install. The message "I'm good and all, but I think you will have to insert the geek drive for me".
I would have freaked if he had been able to do that remotely. I guess you had to be there.
It turned out to not be a faulty install but since he did it under his name the profiles and all the pointers were for him. When I logged on it would crash because I didn't have his drives nor his permissions. He gave me admin right and installed it and presto, all is good in mudville. So if you get a bunch of grief installing at a company than you might just be aware of that.
I run Topcon Tools using the dongle (Sentinel Lock) and it didn't work but I got a 64 bit (free) upgrade to the Sentinel and after loading it then Tools works just fine.
No problems with any MS products, Snagit, Mobile Mapper Office, Forsight DXM or anything else tested so far.
I'm very pleased with it so far. And I supposed I should be for the price of this stuff. Now it's time to sit on the porch and wait for the rain with my two friends.
And tomorrow night is booty blocking on the floor with my Roller Derby Ladies. Yes, it's been a good week and things are improving.
Thanks for the heads-up on the upgrades.
I'm facing the move to 64 bit OS shortly. Luckily Autocad is in my past (since 1983) and not in my future. Sounds like you have a great weekend coming up. I have a feeling that you are into it already. Hope the weather cooperates.
BTW do you still have cats?
You wouldn't need map since Civil 3D is built on top of Map and Autocad. You should have all of the map commands available in C3D.
Deral,
thanks for the update,
keep us posted about the C3d adventure.

Yes VA, but Michael I are the beta testers for Engineering. Not everyone will use Civil 3D all the time so we have to work out the kinks for all the installs.
Nice week, but last night ended up like this on my front porch with a friend.
Tonight though is booty blocks and panties with my 580 roller derby girls. No Civil 3D tonight.
Less picture of AutoCad more pictures of Roller Girls please! You know some of us live vicariously through you and we have high expectations.
You can probably expect some tomorrow Snoopster.

So Snoop was nestled all snug in his bed
While visions of roller girls danced in his head
