I believe they can be used with Autodesk Recap(a terrible program with no real survey functionality at all) but certainly not in Acad 12 map 3d.?ÿ I am not at my work computer right now so i cannot verify 100%.?ÿ?ÿ

You might be able to import the data set depending on the size of the point cloud. Your version of cad uses the Alice labs point cloud engine. We have used the Alice labs point cloud engine in the past, on small points clouds data sets; feature extraction is difficult and slow. We used it mainly to create a 3D picture for our line work.

Currently, Autocad uses Recap as its point cloud engine. It's pretty decent as long as you have a subscription for the software. Once you create a recap project, you can attach the project (aka point cloud) within AutoCAD with just a handful of clicks-pretty easy. Extraction of features has improved but not as easy/intuitive as some software's that are available on the market today.

I would recommend 3D reshaper to do feature extractions from your point cloud. I know cost may be a prohibiting factor, just thought I'd recommend what I use now.?ÿ
