Now I'm wondering if that might actually be an abbreviation - similar to Wm. for William. (Though of course, if the superscript m is the norm for abbreviated names, then that's a strike against this idea.)?ÿ The first letter is pretty definitely an "M" but while the second looks to be "r," maybe it could be "c" or "e"??ÿ Perhaps for Michael??ÿ Some quick googling doesn't come up with any similar standard abbreviations, though.
