I was invited to an IRWA (International Right of Way Association) luncheon meeting by a co-worker today. It cost $20 as the guest of a member.

The speaker was an Attorney who talked about rules of evidence for eminent domain appraisals. Obviously not directly applicable to us but interesting.

If I was a private consultant (which I am not anymore) I could see where that would be a better networking opportunity than a Surveyor's meeting. I have a friend that is a Geologist and Surveyor so he goes to the groundwater association meetings which yields some occasional work.

Giving a presentation would be a good way to get your name out in front of potential clients.

They give you a raffle ticket then draw for a free luncheon meeting (this year). The good news is I won but maybe they rigged it to suck me in. Don't tell anyone I was President of anything ever (twice-two different non-profits) because I can see that happening. I think I have a target on my forehead or something.
