I have a big image file. .Tif 563meg.
It is a scan of an old railroad plan.
I can open one that is 383meg no problem , but this one starts out bad and ends bad.
1st when you select the file in the dialog box it gives a "no preview possible" msg in the preview box.
then when I click open
it opens a dialog box that sez tif decode error can't allocate memory. Only option is "OK". click that and it returns you to the blank irfanview screen.
so I obviously have a memory size problem- is this an irfanview setting i can change or a system/ram setting/capacity thing? BTW it's friday after thanksgiving and the IT folks around here are out til monday.
I used to say "GLOBAL MAPPER"...and to ask MIKE...the famous Global Mike...now I just point to this site:
Mr. Childs is still there...for now...

Try ER Viewer
It doesn't seem to have any limit on file size, it just changes the resolution of the display as you zoom in and out.

Try using "TatukGIS". It is a free viewer and even opens shape files. I use it on large images and it does open them when others fail.
