We've been using a Topcon ES 103 with a spectra precision data collector (nomad) for the past six months. Has anyone else had a problem with the bluetooth connection? We have to re-start the system multiple times a week when the DC and gun stop talking. We also have to go through the collimation routine once every two weeks or so. Are these issues common with newer technology? It just seems like we should be getting better performance from these tools.

Can't really help even thou I have a GTP 3005 with a Nomad running TDS Survey Pro. I use Bluetooth. The only time I loose connection is when I turn the GTP off. Then I have to key in the 1111 code to hook back up. So I just leave the gun on all day. I'm using a 2008 setup.

I understand Bluetooth was never intended for significant distances. Is anybody using the commercial 900 Mhz FHSS radio modules for a serial link? Can anyone recommend a brand? I am looking at using a small Bluetooth (no antenna) for a short hop to a 900mHZ radio and the radio can handle the long hop to the RTS.
