I recently created a video going over the RS150M and its uses for construction layout. If you do any work on hard surfaces, it's worth a watch.
Another great video. If I were still doing construction layout, that would certainly be a tool worth considering.
Another great practical video, I don't do this line of work but forwarded on to a colleague who would benefit.
Couple of years back went to a workshop and one presentation was from a guy working in hydro power stations was using SMR with a plate that it magnetically attached to and then you popped prism off and put a punch down the centre for sub-mm setout; they had a laptop hooked up to a 1" TS16 with special software. Same guy was also talking about laser trackers; on the fence between surveying and metrology.
The SMR, plate and punch were from https://www.metrologyworks.com/and not cheap. I also found https://goecke.de/Products/EDM-Accessories/category-280/category-282/ which seemed a bit more surveying focused.
Those are some very cool tools! Especially the only with the punch that fits into the center so you can hammer a dimple.
Very affordable too. I definitely wouldn't mind getting my hands on those to test out.
I've also never done any laser tracking work myself but would love to.
How does this work for setting out on a vertical surface? Wouldn't that still be a right pain to get the offsets right, unless the instrument was perpendicular to the wall?
The target that you are shooting is perpendicular to the wall. It matters not where the instrument is
