It's always good to have an extra defender on the pitch 😀

My first year of playing organized baseball we were playing another small town team that had a water well out in the middle of left field, where I was playing. It was the typical old pump with long curved handle surrounded by a concrete pad about eight feet by eight feet and roughly one foot above ground level.

In 1963 I was playing for a country team that practiced on a field that was in use as a pasture, complete with cow patties.

Our oldest player was 12 and our youngest was 7. We whipped every team in the area. We had an 8 year old hitting approximately .800. Sure was a blast.B-)
