Thanks very much for the offer!?ÿ We actually only use the passive with our robots - which are much lighter and less prone to needing protection.?ÿ If we had more urban or stakeout work like I've done in the past we'd be using the active for sure.?ÿ Nice-looking design.

I defintely agree for most work, we have a dozen crews doing mostly oil and gas pipeline work - and it's rare that they can't get what they need with the R10s.?ÿ We actually quit buying robots for every crew a while back, since when they need a robot it's because they're in the woods and the M3 is nice and small.?ÿ Lately if they need active track we just use the R10 on top of the prism for the GPS search on steroids.?ÿ Decimeter even without a base is pretty hard to beat!?ÿ That's why I immediately thought of the top mount 5/8 stud.
I took one home this weekend to see if I could determine the signal with an oscilloscope (that was a dismal failure, I will get back too) and I took the chance to bang it on the table to see if the cushion was there.?ÿ I thought they worked very well.?ÿ As far as I know, the crews haven't knocked one over for a real test though.?ÿ Nice and springy!

Every dropped or blown over prism setup I've encountered has found that one weak point to cause some break or dislodge some part that is integral to the tool.
