it’s crazy that people still put fences up thinking the old fence is right! Then what they think the fence company is just gonna come back and doit for free since you didn’t wanna spend $1k to have your boundary and property lines staked out so there can’t be any errors with putting it up.

Well, at least in that scenario, they're not pulling the pin and putting it "right back where it was"

In many jurisdictions that old fence has become 'right'. Here in Idaho a fence treated as a boundary through use can become the boundary after 20 years. Similar laws and case law exists in most jurisdictions. 

We need to know the fact patterns and recognize the evidence that supports them (or doesn't). If we start pinning corners against an established boundary we're in trouble (or should be).

I started looking at it like if the people living in the area don't care if it's right or wrong then why should I?  If they hire me to show them what's going on I'm happy to do that, but if nobody is squabbling is there really a problem?
