I got a T3 instrument but don't have any legs for it. I got the top plate of the legs that the instrument sits on but the wooden legs and spikes are missing. This is not used in the field. Have found some legs but out of my price range. Can anyone tell me of a set of legs that will hold the instrument or where I can get the wood poles and spikes. Thank you very much.

T3, you mean a Wild Heerbrugg inst, I'd guess?

You can pick up a set of legs, non Wild brand, easily. For around $ 100.00

Here is a green set, but some of the parts are missing, at the head.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Antique-Army-Military-Survey-Tripod-Wooden-Steampunk-Camera-Industrial-/391464842892?hash=item5b251f768c:g:-ugAAOSwixtXQ63~&apos ;">Antique Green Military style legs

And, this is a good heavy set.

Just search on ebay, "Survey Tripod".

I think the T3 is overpriced, but I don't know alot about them either.

Not really knowing what you plan to do with it.. is this for indoor display?
Anyway, MOST survey companies are going to RTK and Post processed GPS, and no longer have need of the older OPTICAL theodolites, because they don't hook to a data collector, and transfer the data via wires.

Maybe you can find what you need.

The T3 uses a larger tripod head than normal due to the size of its base, but for display purposes a standard tripod works fine. Just make sure that the clamps/screws are tight if it's an adjustable tripod.

As you undoubtedly know already, a T3 will overhang a standard tripod, below is my model of a GST20 and a GST30 tripod sitting side by side. This really shows the size difference
http://www.imgtree.net/&apos ;">
To me the difference looks too great to just bend other leg parts to fit as the top is so wide. I hope that I am wrong and if you find a set that works, please post

Look at the NEDO brand for a straight leg with the larger head. I used T3s exclusively for 12 years the the Wild tripods were great but I never trusted a slip leg- the name itself tells you why.
