Does anyone have a digital image of (or a link to) that cartoon in which the rodman is dreaming about being the instrumentman, the instrumentman is dreaming about being the boss and the boss is dreaming about being the rodman?
I was just thinking about [msg=200216]this cartoon[/msg] the other day.
Nice. Kind of like one of M.C. Escher's "strange loops" and "tangled hierarchies".
30 Minutes. Not bad.
SurveyorConnect is the greatest.
Thanks.

Here's one that we have had floating around the office for a while. No idea where it came from but still funny.
it happens in real life too:

Nothing more amusing than explaining this to a paralegal reviewing an ALTA who's office is 1000 miles away.

I will run it as an avatar for a while.:-)
I'm just curious. What do you do when that happens? Do you go under the property and locate the road? Are there monuments above ground for the right of way?

The hotel http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ L'Enfant_Plaza_Hotel (IMVHO, other than the J Edgar Hoover Building, the most god awful piece of architecture foisted on the citizens of the District of Columbia) is built on an Air Rights Lot which is tied horizontally and vertically to a record lot corner in the description that creates it.
So basically its just regular old land surveying (do the research, find the monuments, locate the improvements...) but in three dimensions instead of two.

That makes sense. Cool stuff!

:good:
One of the reasons I shuttered my solo firm and went to work here is the opportunity to work on stuff like that. And this, we start laser scanning the exterior and interior the first week of December, already ran mobile mapping equipment up all the rails leading into the building
Reminds me of driving through the post office building in downtown Chicago.
