A couple years ago I bought a MAGGIE locator from a local survey dealer shop, mistakenly thinking I was buying the extendable retractable Schonstedt GA-92XTd Magnetic Locator.?ÿ Well I just took delivery of this and am excited to see how much easier it will be for me to do solo recon work with this new locator:

as well as my new "shovel":

I am also excited to see how well this new toy will work (instead of laying the gps rod down in the back of the?ÿ truck and losing lock while driving from point to point:

Very happy with the customer service provided by www.baselineequipment.com to this dumb dirt surveyor all the way over here in Indiana.

In a recent topic, a link to this catalog was posted, and I thought of you. You'll be needing one of each, plus consumables.
Let us know how you like that Schonstedt. I had one a few years back and, while it worked fine, I really didn't find it to be any more convenient than the old box-on-a-stick model.?ÿ In some ways it was less so.?ÿ
I've gotta buddy who could whip up that door hanger thingy for you for about $150 or less.
@norman-oklahoma ten four, will do.?ÿ In a side by side comparison, right out of the box, I notice a different workflow will be required.?ÿ Since the tip is a little further up from the ground than the Maggie, I think I will have to increase the gain (?) for the initial rough early sweeps, maybe?
I've gotta buddy who could whip up that door hanger thingy for you for about $150 or less.
And your buddy knows a guy that will survey his house lot for $150
It was closer to $1500 at the time we did it.
Product liability is what has quadrupled prices on everything over the past 40 years.?ÿ Rigging up such a rack is easy.?ÿ Getting sued is HARD.
Getting sued is HARD.
I think I googled the reason:
Yowzer.?ÿ That's 32.5 lawyers per surveyor.
approximately 40,000 licensed professional surveyors?ÿin the U.S. based on the combined 2012 statistics from BLS and NCEES.Jun 20, 2013
That's ten years ago too. The ratio is likely much higher now, I heard( yes I know it's hearsay) at the big 7 conference earlier this year that there were just over 32k licensed surveyors.?ÿ And seems reasonable as the attrition of the profession is gainiy momentum from what I've read here and there.
Many years ago a recently graduated lawyer moved into a small town and set up shop.
After the first year he had run out of work setting up everyone's wills, etc.
In order to increase his business he invited another lawyer to set up a competing business.
Before long they both had more work than they could handle.
