I said, "It's too bad Conkright had to die and not finish this project."
Co-worker says, "Conkright would probably agree with you."
Conkright was great, he worked here from about 1971 to his sudden death in 1985. He left a lot of documentation on what he did. He did the outer boundary of the mother parcel but apparently never was able to finish the new boundary created.
His successor (also deceased) did some weird stuff. He cooked up a bearing for one of the outer boundary lines using an odd combo of numbers. Nothing is way off, it's just annoying. It's an old Nike radar installation originally Q/C'd by the Army to another department near Travis AFB. The other department used it to raise lab rats and burn the cadavers when they were done with them. The other department did an internal transfer. Later the State, being it's usual stupid self, sold the remainder property to a sheep herder, the remainder has the Nike facilities, the radar pad and buildings. I think Arnie (a real knucklehead) did that. I guess Arnie never heard of a grazing lease, sheesh. I'd rather keep it for income than give it away cheap.
I really value your input, Dave. I'd hate to see Wendell put you in the penalty box for violating the no P&R rule.
No one knows who "Arnie" is though. 😉
