I typically shoot most everything in State Plane, so I have one large control file. (.survey file) When I need to use ground coordinates and a certain basis of bearings, I do a "save as" and create a new file. I then scale the file at a point near the jobsite to go from the Grid to Ground and then do a "rotation only" horizontal calibration to get on the correct basis of bearings for the survey. I then use this file for design, staking, etc.
This last time I accidentally did not do a "save as" and modified the original "control" file. I went back and "reversed" everything, so I have all the correct coordinates, however, they are all showing up as "Grid Key in Points", so now from here on out when I do a save as, and go through the scaling and rotation all the points are ignored because they are not "GNSS Observation" points. Hopefully I've explained this clear enough to get some help.
How do I get back to my original file? I do have some back-ups which I save periodically on my computer, but I have three significant jobs that I've done since I saved and would like to get back to the original file with all my points.
Why are you scaling?
To use ground distances
I think you can do this by re-processing the raw data somehow.
SP 'usually' creates a backup file whenever you do any coordinate gymnastics. Just open that .survey file. You should be backing up your work daily so you can go back a day if everything gets gobbed up.
That is what I was thinking... I just need to figure out how to do it. Thanks
