What deep cycle batteries are powering your GNSS external radios?
I am running a TDL-450H. At 35 watts (4FSK/9600 link rate), which is overkill, I am only getting 5.5 hours out of my current Rural King brand deep cycle marine. This battery more than likely needs to be replaced as it has been completely discharged multiple times. The TDL draws 130w @12v DC (35w Tx) and 55w @ 12v DC (8w Tx)
From all the research I have done and "experts" I have talked to, I should be getting 10-15 hours at 35 watts.
I've narrowed it down to the Trojan D31XHS (flooded cell) and the Optima D31M (gel pack).
We run the same radio. I use it on 2 watts and can get 2 days and get all the coverage I need. On 25 watts I was only getting 7-8 hrs out of it on. The sealed hell battery they supplied. Turn it down and you will be fine. Especially with a new battery
I've been running the TDL-450h @35 watts for up to 10 hours on the Optima D34M which is a 55Ah battery. The D31M is a 75Ah battery, which might run get you through another day even if you forgot to charge it. I've been very impressed with the Optima blue tops.
