OK gang I have just recently acquired a second robot so that I will be using 2 Topcon QS robots working on large jobs. I'm having a problem with them both going in to search mode when either user "Q-Locks" with their RC-4. I have one robot set to Channel 1 on the Radio and Channel 1 on SS Radio while the other is on Channel 5 for both of these settings. The RC4 channels are also changed to match with each robot channel settings.
Have I missed something that tells the QS to ignore the other units RC4? Neither RC4 has ever been paired with the other. I'm worried that the RC-4 just blasts a beacon out and there is no way for the QS to discern whether it needs to search or ignore said beacon.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The RC uses infrared to call the robot , the radio has nothing to do with it . So if you activate the search and if the infrared hits the other gun it's going to make it look as we'll.
Thanks for the response that was my understanding as well. My crews have told me it also happened when the RC4 wasn't visible to the other QS though which made me think I've missed something on the radio setup. If it's only IR blasting on Q-Lock then I may just try to put the rain cover over the handle and see if the other gun still reacts.
Strange stuff but I suppose maybe the IR beam is getting refracted/bouncing off of things in a way that the gun can see even though line of sight is not there.
Thanks again for your response. I've definitely got more investigating to do.

Your instrument configuration in the data collector should allow you to set the radio channel and also a RC channel. If you have both robots set to different channels there should not be any issues.
The RC has a channel but it can be used as a communication device like the radion not as good but can do it . I am not sure the settings for the Dog whistle part of the RC uses channels . Maybe.
Thanks guys I hadn't thought about DC configs. Maybe I can get an answer from my dealers tech support on if there is more than IR going on with the QLock function.
