I have a client who has a sticky issue with some undeveloped land on a lake.?ÿ Has to do with the GLO survey and how the Gov't lots were shown on the plat vs. how they measure out now.?ÿ Good chance it will end up in Court, and I am looking for someone more well versed than I in these procedures (Obviously, I don't want to give up too much at this stage).?ÿ?ÿ
Study of the Manual of Instructions has not been helpful.
Can anyone recommend such a consultant with extensive GLO experience, who would be willing to provide advice and expert testimony?
Before hiring a consultant I would talk to the Cadastral group at the appropriate BLM office. If there is no federal land involved they won't be able to give you THE answer, but they may be able to shed some light.?ÿ
As for a consultant, if Dennis Mouland is still active with Witness Tree Consulting, this sounds like the type of thing he might be able to help with.?ÿ
Message sent with an attachment.?ÿ Good luck.
I've been John Stahl's seminar. If I remember correctly, and as someone from a non-cookbook state, he seemed fairly well versed in such matters.
I'd suggest either a retired BLM Cadastral Surveyor (like Dennis Mouland) or a CFedS licensed in your state who has taken the continuing education courses on river and lake boundaries.
Here is a link to the CFedS website where you can download the CFedS roster. The CE credits earned for each active CFedS are listed there and you can see who has earned CE credits for the accretion, avulsion, reliction, swamp land grants, omitted areas and island surveys courses. I bet you find someone familiar to you in the roster. I don't have a specific person to recommend as river and lake boundary problems are a specialty field.
Thanks for the input . . . IF I can get the client to go forward, I will do something of a write-up here when it's resolved.
Jerry Penry would be a good choice as well.
