Can you run a Geodimeter 600 series robot with a TSC2 data collector? I have never used a Geodimeter, but one of the local Topcon/Leica dealers has one for sale for a reasonable price. He said it comes with the CU, but based on my Google research the CU looks like a PITA. I have an extra TSC2 with Survey Controller v12.46.

He also said the Geodimeter is the about the same as a 5600. How true is this?

Hi,

Check this 'How to connect', Geodimeter 600 is in the list under the Spectra Precision instruments.

We have a 640 and a 5605. The 5600 series development probably has better search control and speed, but generally the 640 seems to have a better range.

It will all depend on the actual model being offered and, probably, the individual instrument. Some are always better than others.

For most purposes the two are interchangeable. As the 640 is the more precise instrument we normally keep this for precise work and calibrated.

Actually, some of the later Geo 600s did have reflectorless. I used to work with one.

I have a 650 and use the CU, I love it! it's not as fancy as the windows based DC's but it's a workhorse. Only downfall (other than it's weight) is the lack of reflectorles. It's why I'm considering upgrading.
