A few weeks back I ran into a one foot copperhead on the banks of the Brazos. Walked another 300' aling the top bank and ran into a three foot mocassin.

I try to remember statements like that from the south while I'm shoveling snow in freezing temperatures.

Here in OK we have the Southern Diamond Reo?ÿBong Puffer snake.?ÿ In summer it?ÿsports markings similar to a rattlesnake but is non-poisonous.?ÿ After the first hard freeze it turns pure white similar to the Arctic Fox or Hare.?ÿ The only parts of the snake visible in snow?ÿare its pure black beady little eyes.?ÿ?ÿ?ÿWe then call it simply the "Snow Snake" and its venom is deadly during that time of year.?ÿ?ÿ ?ÿ

I'm going to be an optimist and declare that this is the low point, it doesn't get this cold again for the entire year.

I sure hope your Oklahoma snake does not cross with our Copper-Bellied Water Rattler!!!

We have Garter snakes year round. They will eat roaches, grasshoppers, toads and anything else they can fit in their mouth. Florida Garter snakes have about the same disposition as Cottonmouth's. But although the Garters are non-venomous they will bite the hell out of you if you piss them off.

Must not be a Jeep product.?ÿ I don't know if my Wrangler is broken or it if was built that way, but it doesn't register a negative temperature.

Granted it's only been below zero two or three times in Oklahoma since I've owned it.?ÿ But I've had it up in Wisconsin several times over the last six years with multiple episodes well below zero and it only registers to "zero".

BTW, the compass freezes at about 5 above and remains fixed at the direction it was parked.
