I saw one of these on a PBS show where there are three or four contestants buying at a flea market and auctioning the goods in Ca. That one was bought for $45 and sold for $50 I believe. Anyone have any history on this type of level? The following is cut/paste from a local CL ad.

Bostrom surveying insterment - $200 (foothills)
antique surveying tool with legs maid by bostrom 200.00

Here is a link to the ad for a picture.

The term "insterment" reminds me of when my ex-wife worked for a weekly newspaper. People would routinely come in to renew their "perscription" to the newspaper.

A friend of mine works for the Louisiana Parole Board. Common spelling errors received from inmates include "crekit" for time served.

One inmate called via payphone and asked for cash rather than a check for his "crekit" ... I am told that the fellow was quite disappointed to learn that was not what "crekit" meant.

I believe it is a builders level.
$45-50 is closer. I have one I would send you for shipping cost if I can find it.
