We are looking at purchasing a Robot and wondering if anyone on here is currently using a Focus 30? We have a Leica and a Nikon and have used Topcon in the past but no experience with this brand. Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Greg

We are Spectra Precision dealers. The Focus 30 is a solid mid-range robot. It is best compared to the Trimble S3 or S6 in look and feel with a few differences, the biggest bring that you use Survey Pro instead of Trimble Access. I personally prefer the Survey Pro software myself. The instrument is very fast and used a step-lock servo system. While some are still up in the air about these motors, I can verify that they are well-built and seem to hold up, however, they are not as quiet as the Trimble Mag-drives.

The Focus does have a Geolock search feature. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Most of the time you will use the toggle arrows and the search keys to locate the prism. Seems like it would be slower than say a Topcon, however, due to the speed of the Focus it's pretty dang fast.

For the $22k kit price it is not a bad unit. It would definitely make me pause for a while in going with the higher-end Trimble.
