That was my main thought...Topo the hell out of it. But isn't it all flat like Florida, just dusty and cold instead of wet and hot?

Trust me Shawn, these guys have been at if for 20+ years in Mass and Florida, AND will have an RPLS on top of them the whole way. Angle right is the same here as it is in China. Math doesn't change.

Just make sure you get them boys a raise so they don't get inclined to stay when they're through.

> ...what would you Texas guys think are some of the issues they'll have?

tryin' ta figure out which place has the best brisket.

and tryin' ta figure out how to stay awake in the afternoon after eating two pounds of it.

btw- how's the waves been at the inlet? in high school we'd drive the 30 minutes down to the inlet trying to find the only real waves around (and possibly a stray bale or two washed ashore). saw a black tip up close and waaaaay too personal there once.

> what is "Big Survey"?

The kind of outfits that put more crews under a licensed surveyor than that surveyor could possibly keep true responsible charge over. The kind of outfits that never have the surveyor actually visit the site to see if the work is done correctly, nor budget for the surveyor to carefully direct and/or review crew decisions.

High output, rubber stamping, low quality, highly insured.

Maybe this doesn't describe your company, but your philosophy (as subtly suggested in this thread) suggests it just might. Since you mentioned Yeah. the issue of caps came up and we decided NOT to put our Florida caps or disks in the ground....We'll use our companies TX stuff.... this has me thinking your crew will be doing boundary work (maybe I'm wrong?) In which case this quote It can't be that bad, just a few new walmart sites.... has me confused. WHAT THE HELL DIFFERENCE DOES THAT MAKE? Boundary surveying is boundary surveying regardless of what the site is. Put that with this 20+ years in Mass and Florida and I'm getting kind of frustrated. There is a reason we have a registration specific to Texas. We're not Effing Massachusetts or Florida, and while it is certainly true that Angle right is the same here as it is in China. Math doesn't change you should know that there is far more to boundary surveying than the mechanics of measurement and the mathematics of plane geometry. I hope that what you say Have the locals do all the boundary decisions. Focus your crews on everything else. - That was my main thought...Topo the hell out of it... AND will have an RPLS on top of them the whole way. is true, and if it is - more power to them. Enjoy all the great Texas barbecue and Tex-Mex they can stand during one of the best times of year to do it (I mean that sincerely). My experience with big, interstate surveying companies doesn't give me much hope though.

"1) Make sure that English is their second language.
2) Keep a close eye out for the coatimundi if they are in south Texas.
3) Send them with plenty of money for beer! :-P"

Too funny!! What about them armadillo things?
