Hey all, I am just wondering if any of you on Surveyor Connect have run across any of these "Flat Earth" videos on YouTube or on Facebook ? A friend of mine mentioned it to me about a year ago. I though it was a joke. Turns out, it's no joke. And now recently it seems to be everyplace.

So, I finally decided to make a video of my own as sort of a rebuttal, and to also share some information that none of these flatheads seem to be aware of, or, are purposely leaving out. I posted it on YouTube last night. I kept the comments turned off because I'm not interested in getting all the hate mail from the flatheads.

If any of you are interested in seeing the video, drop me a line and I'll send you the link. I sure could use some thumbs up 😉
Seems like the flat earth has become so popular that to suggest anything contrary to their "reality" will draw venom.

Can I get some thumbs up to balance it out?

I put my GPS in "Flat Earth" mode, most of the time! 🙂

All my distances are calculated to the horizontal! Us ol' Cadastral Surveyors are flat landers 🙂

Good stuff Gavin. I'm familiar with that story.

To all, Instead of a 2 step process trying to get people to email me for the link, here's the link. Take a look and press the thumbs up please.

Like I said, the comments are turned off. Feel free to contact me with comments, critiques, or suggestions. Thanks.

I did get a lot of humor out of your explanations to people that already have their minds made up. The proof is in the thumbs, after my up vote you were still losing 6 to 3. Yes, they are out there

Yep. We're out numbered Norm. Speaking of humor, if I had the comments turned on, you would see some doozies. Maybe I'll turn them on at some point. I'd rather know I might have some surveyor brothers and sisters chiming in first though. Thanks for watching and responding here.

It looks like a good video. I wasn't able to watch the full 45 minutes, but maybe later. You used actual measurements, math, and intelligence, but I kind of think your target audience have made their decision and (to them) you are just one of the conspirators using fuzzy logic to keep the lie going. Good luck with that fight.

I will look in on it later. I need to "log in" to like or dislike apparently and I need to figure out how to do that. I think it would be entertaining to turn on the comments. Getting some of us in there kind of supporting your logic might be good.

Thanks for tuning in Tom. I tried to keep it short, but some of those videos go on for hours. I tried to keep it lively and moving. You're absolutely right, there's no convincing those flatheads. Like I stated at the beginning, I'm not debating them and I say my audience are those that are watching this absurd debate and are wondering what's real after watching some of those very slick, very well done flat earth videos. I knew to come here , not for support for me, but for a showing of sanity in some thumbs up. I fully expect to get trashed by those numbskulls. Like one of my mentors said, they're imbeciles, which are 2 steps below idiots. There's no reasoning with fools. Anyway, thanks again Tom. I hope you like the rest of it when you're able to view it. By the way, it's worthwhile having a YouTube account. There's tons of surveying vids on there. Most of the manufactures have their own channels. Great resource.

It's good to be among those with a sense of humor A Harris. Thanks for the chuckle. Meanwhile brain dead zombies lurk everywhere ripe to accept ANYTHING their trainers feed them to eat and believe. If you haven't tested the waters yet, go search on "flat earth" on YouTube and then stand back in amazement at what you're going to witness .....

Nice work But really I think you just wasted however much time it took you to make it.

Well Bob, that might apply to you, but not to me. I enjoyed every single minute of every single step, from making the observations to giving the presentation locally, to then creating the video and posting it. So, if you spent the 45 minutes watching it, did you spend one more second to give it a thumbs up ? If so, that was time well spent. Thanks.

Well if you enjoyed yourself while doing the work that's a whole different story.

If you really expect to convince any of those clowns...

The compass is an important part of my "museum". I'm keeping it adjusted in case the 'Flat Earth' folks quit believing in electricity.

Convince who, flatheads ? Well, no. There's no talking to them. That's why I defined who my audience was on my 2nd slide and also clearly stated my purpose for making the video.

"Cult of dumb@$$@$".
I have met a local group that refused to learn anything in school and won't believe anything anyone else attempts to teach them.
Besides believing the earth is flat, they don't immunize their children, work and many can not read or write beyond their names and personal information.
They actually believe it is the responsibility of their relatives and friends to support them.
Their defense is that no one is qualified and can not prove anything because everyone is brainwashed into all our false beliefs about everything.

Immunize ? So we go from the flat earth to the blind acceptance of vaccinations? Ok. Maybe I came to the wrong place. Makes me rethink my decision to keep the comments turned off on YouTube. I might have better chances of a rational conversation over there if I turn on the comments. Just curious A Harris, I'm wondering if you accept the earth to be round on blind faith because you were told it was round, which really is exactly the identical same thing the flatheads are doing by blindly accepting what someone else told them. To ask it another way, can you explain to someone how it is you think the earth is shaped and how the earth moves? Just wondering. I didn't get an answer before either. Did you leave me a thumbs up over there on YouTube ?
