He said its "retired now" lol but it was used many many years!
It started out as a 28" blade, but after years of filing it down, it looked more like a sword.
He preferred the old Collins brand but they don't make those anymore.

That's about twice as big as the ones I encounter. I don't have to be much concerned until about May. Worst time is August, if you see one better be looking for the other one. They will warn which is good but if you step on them, get to close or reach into their close vicinity the warning turns deadly. If they are on my property. well...........................

I guess the warm weather has got them stirring.

I wanted to catch a good sized one this last fall so I'd have something to put in a fake UPS package on the porch for the Christmas package thieves. It didn't happen...maybe next year.

Tell your dad to 'go easy' on them....we don't want them to become an endangered species.

Yes, we haven't had much of a winter down here, unusually warm temps so no break from the mosquitoes or snakes like we sometime get.

Paden, you would have to make sure you had a hidden camera. That would serve them right!

I was born in 1979, started in the field with him when I was 12. Plenty of snake killin'
We even have some pretty darn big ones stuffed & mounted in a case at our office! Always a good conversation piece lol

probably simple one to run through Starnet seeing only 4 legs are involved.

back on topic but I wouldn't tackle a snake with anything that short.
We have some straight poles (bits stout brush, scrub from the bush) placed strategically about the outside world here. All are about 5-6 feet long.
They work well.
