I have not seen any mention on here of the upcoming FIG working week in Orland at the end of May.

I have been going yearly (mostly, missed 3 years) since 2006, and this is the first time it has been in this hemisphere since 2001. I participated in the lobbying to get the conference here in the US. It must be voted on by the member countries, typically a few years in advance. The first time we tried we lost out to South Africa. The concern from many delegates was getting visas to come here. We were finally successful, and this year it will be in Orlando. We were able to get the votes by promising help with visas, which Sen Marco Rubio is helping with.

Ever since I started in surveying I have tried to attend as many conferences as possible, my first ACSM was around 1982 or so. Once they discontinued those, I started going to FIG and have been the US delegate to Commission 6 (Engineering Surveys) since 2006.

Wednesday May 31 will be NGS day...

Hope to see some of you there.

I have been to FIG working weeks and congresses in Munich, Hong Kong, Stockholm, Sydney, Marrakech, Rome, Montevideo, Kuala Lumpur, Christchurch, Helsinki, Istanbul, Hanoi and Warsaw.

Always a good time!
