Hello everyone. This is my first post although I've made a few comments and have lurked here for a few months.

I recently purchased a GPT-3003W as a backup plan in case something happens with my current job at a Surveying and engineering firm. I figure since I am licensed, it is a good idea and it makes me feel better knowing I am completely outfitted to survey on my own.

I am also trying out an HP iPAQ with Micro survey Field genius installed. The problem I am having is that I cannot get the gun and DC to communicate. I have tried various setting with both Bluetooth and cable with no luck. I have paired the HP and the gun via Bluetooth but the software doesn't seem to work. In order to use my 9 pin Topcon cable I have to use an adapter to go from 9 pin to the HP and that doesn't work at all.

I have communicated with the gun using a TSC2 with survey pro and cable but haven't tried the Bluetooth yet.

The version of Fieldgenius I'm using is 2007 v 3.1. Does anyone have any experience with my setup? Can't you tell me your settings?

Thanks,

Gregg

The adapter could be causing an issue for the cabled connection.

About the bluetooth, If you have the manual for your total station, one of the page mentions the serial port (virtual) settings on your Bluetooth. I tried connecting a GPT3005W to a Leica Viva CS15 and Trimble TSC2 by Bluetooth with no success. Not too sure why. They meet but don't seem to want to talk much too each other. The Bluetooth icon appears on the total station once in a while and disappears.

Connection Pins In HP 48 Very Delicate

Which is why almost everybody puts their HP 48 in a hard case to minimize plugging and unplugging directly to the HP all day long.

Check by connecting your HP to a computer or other instrument.

Second check your connection may be serial when null modem is required or vice versa.

@James

Yeah, I was thinking the cable adapter could be an issue too. Maybe I just need a driver for it?

I have gone through most of the settings (baude rate, parity, ect...) based on setting recommended by both Topcon and Field genius.

@Paul,

This isn't a 48 but thanks. I wish it was..... I'd already be up and running.
