Considering partnering with an engineering firm to complete a FERC relicensing project. Having not done this before, does anyone have any advice on the process from the Surveyor's perspective?

Well the answer as always is, it depends. I've only done one FERC relicensing survey but it was a doozy. This was for a pool on the upper Columbia and the utility district actually owned the uplands, generally from the project boundary to the line of navigation. So essentially we did a boundary survey of 100+ miles of shoreline and the corresponding section info. As I understand it most FERC submittals don't go into this much detail. We set a lot of boundary monuments and broke down all the sections so we had about 70 records of survey to file in 3 counties as well as the FERC mapping. The main issue in dealing with FERC was following their protocols for digital submittal. Not all that difficult but the regs filled a 3" 3-ring binder. It's a long process and I'd want to have a relationship with whoever runs the pool and not just the engineer.
