Have you ever checked "yes" to the question of engineered vents?
If so, how did you identify that they are "engineered" openings?
All of the "engineered flood vents" that I have come in contact with have had a certification letter from the manufacturer.
I have only seen them on new construction, so getting a copy of the letter has not been difficult.
There may be a name on the flood vents that you can look for the manufacturer.
Dan, what does an engineered vent look like?
I've seen several different kinds, with most looking like a dryer vent, but some "fancy" kind were oval shaped and I was damn glad they had the area calculated in square inches.
I have done several EC with engineered vents. In this context they refer to any opening purposely constructed; as opposed to a varmit made, car smashed or weather induce hole in the wall.

Gene, that is what I thought but read page 24 in the link.
I must admit that sounds technical; I'm just going with what we are required to do in Galveston. Despite the handbook instructions, your local CFM calls the shots.
