Well, time to start down the FCC license renewal path, my license expires next February, so a bit before the drop dead date for the narrow banding, I have to renew anyway so will get the license modified at the same time as the renewal, combined costs = to about $600 for the 10 year license with the narrow band modification.

Once that is in place the real expense can start, upgrading the RTK radios (you do remember those right? There are places I work where there is NO phone coverage or no RTN, so have to have the tools to work in those areas) and the voice radios. All of my voice radios are too old to upgrade, just about to paper weight status, I think I can get the PacCrest radios modified, if not my costs are going to go way higher than my budgeted amount.

01-Jan-2013 is not that far off for all of us procrastinators!

Our County Road Department is going to take a huge hit switching over. Not sure where that money is going to come from...They sure have good timing with these regulations.
