So I have a FC 2600 data collector. Cool unit, still learning how to use it, but I have run into something the tech dudes here can't figger out.

I have an older prismless TS, Topcon GPT 1003. FIne instrument, been very happy with it. One of the functions is a pair of red lights for the rod man to line up to get on line quicker. Most times when I connect the DC, it turns those lights on and fires up the laser generator to run constantly! (sometimes not tho"????) This has resulted in my batteries running out on the TS, where by itself, one battery would last me a week, now I use all 3 batteries to get to lunch time. Anybody else run into that?

What software are you using in FC2600? Magnet Field?

You need change the default settings. Turn off Guide Lights.

Also change the default settings for EDM measurements. It sounds like you have continuous read, or it is defaulting to reflectorless mode.

Thank you, Lee

I suspected that was the problem, just wasn't sure if it was me or the DC (yes, I am using Magnet)
