Engadget post.
The discussion thread is more fun than the article. Some of it is quite interesting, but most of the arguments have degenerated to a level that makes the worst of the P&R fights here look like a church service. There has been a fair amount of commentary from the aviation industry and military, but I don't see anything specifically from the survey community.
The discussion following that article seems to be one guy who argues for LS and leaves out some important factor in every post. When the several other people who know how radio works try to correct him, he leaves out a different factor or makes up a different incorrect analogy.
Bill,
Would you happen to be calling that particular defender of LS a dirty, lowdown, scum sucking, bottom dwelling Liar? Or am I being too nice?
SJ;-)
The main dude defending LS is also quite well known to comment on the issue of someones birth place. Not the best debater for whatever cause he is trying to support. The arguments about $6 fixes (I remember when someone said 10 cent filter) is just a side show when you consider that LS has not taken the upper band off the table and the upper band tests showed devastating interference across the board. LS's own Mr. Harriman said at their press confernece ont he 13th "technology has not yet been invented that will allow us to use the upper band. We hope that a solution for that will be found as well, but expect the technical innovation to take years, not months.”
Beware the upper band. Wil lthe quick PCTEL ands Javad fixes prepare out equipment for that?
Some guys on there are obviously engineers in some related field and it was very enlightening. I wanted to punch that one kid in the mouth after reading only two of his posts. Got to be the most annoying, ignorant and conceited punk I have ever read online!!
