I'm new to TBC. I download a receiver file which in TGO come in as a .DAT file. In TBC I get a .R file. OPUS won't accept a .R file. So I assume there must be a way in TBC to get a .DAT file.

So EXPERTS help me out.

download the receiver using the utility, not TBC. That should yield a .dat file.

Yeah, I'm able to use the data transfer utility, could do that without TBC.

What do you do if you download to TBC, the .R raw file, and delete the file from the receiver. Then you need the .DAT for OPUS. Seems like there must be a way, maybe it's another utility.

One nice thing I've found in TBC that I don't think TGO would do is import the XML output from OPUS. Kinda nice, puts the point right in there, no cut and paste or manual input. I think I’ll probably like TBC, it's just my patience for non productive days learning new software ain't what it used to be.

I never download inside the processing software. I always download using the utility to folders named by date, then folders inside that for each receiver and one for the conventional data. That way I have an untouched set of the raw files for each field day in case something bad happens.

It is nice to have everything organized because sometimes the processed project gets corrupted and I need to start over. Having everything organized by day complete with written field notes of what I actually did is very helpful and makes putting the project back together quick and easy.
