The efficiency of a blue topping crew is always controlled by the ability of the guy with the sledgehammer.

@lurker That one with sledge hammer doesnƒ??t have to be the strongest he or she just needs to know how that sucker can work for ya instead of against ya. ?ÿI always had two sledges and a claw hammer. ?ÿOne sledge long handled once that hub was starter simpley stand up and rotate the wrist and when she comes down she does all the work. 2nd was short handle sledge for hard ground and needing to tap her down a little. Claw for the few soft spots and or digging in a cut section. Oh how I wish I could do that these days. Although where i work itƒ??s against the survey gods to stake anything other than finished grade. I was i. A job site contractor asked when i came back to stake to prep for asphalt. I did some quick checks with a dtm and said well tomorrow i will set bluetops. Hot to office looking for a set of plans found the asphalt thickness areas and said well easy no calcs needed. Manager asked why are you looking at plans. I told him. ?ÿThen he lost it ran to daddy boss daddy boss came out frantic. I was like what is going on. Once the big boss told me they donƒ??t stake sub grade or anything other than finished grade per contract. I said ok i will just give the stakes with marker mark to fill or cut to fg. Lots of things i am learning have changed or maybe its just the company i am with. I will learn I reckon.?ÿ
