Got two of them with Bluetooth .

I used them for about two years with little issue . Had to put them on the shelf because of equipment upgrades . I would prefer to use them over any windows units period .

Positives
Can always see the screen , very easy and very very fast to use , great for location work and stake out. No menus to surf through . Everything works from the keyboard . Geodetic routines are superior to any collector out there . Great tech support .

Negatives
Down side is cant use cad drawings in data collector, GPS is very basic no localization or VRS . No road package or alignments . Development appears to have stopped.

Did you ever have a chance to use them with a robotic total station and a radio? I was wondering about conectivity and range of the radio!

I still use a DC50 as my only data collector. I'm very happy with it, though as noted above development appears to have stopped, and support -- last time I needed it, anyway -- was hard to come by. It's a very different approach to data collection from that taken by TDS, Trimble and Leica, but I find it fast and efficient.

Unfortunately, the DC50 hit the market right about the time surveying slowed dramatically, and sales were disappointing. It's future is uncertain, in my estimation.

I have a couple sitting on the shelf. One I bought new and used for a couple years with no issues. Seems to be more geared to construction staking than boundary work though. The other I bought used and it turned out to be the prototype that was sent to OK for testing.
