I am looking to upgrade my TDS Ranger 300x at the end of the year. I'm looking at all my options. One of the most important things to me would be to find a controller that you can see the screen out in the sun "WHILE WEARING POLARIZED SUN GLASSES". Living and working in the sunshine state, most days are very hot and sunny! Not being able to wear my sunglasses while working with my robot or GPS controller is a real drag!:-(
Looking for some input! Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.:-D
I looked at the new Ranger3 at a conference out in the sun. It was a little better than my older 300x, but not that much. The specs on the Ranger3 have it as one of the best, higest resolution screens out there. If it had a different screen mode to make it viewable thru polarized lenses, it would be awesome!
That is probably my biggest complaint about the Carlson Surveyor. I'm not sure about the new Rangers but I can read my old Ranger just fine with polarized glasses.

Mr. Burkholder,
LCD screens are already "polarized". You won't find an LCD screen viewable with polarized glasses. I suggest saving the polarized glasses for fishing days and use "regular" sunglasses for work days.

Tilt your head to the side to misalign the polarizing filter and you can see the screen.
I have to wear glasses anyway so I ordered a pair of sunglasses for work that are non polarized and have my prescription and bi-focal , works for me. Eye doc said pilots order them the same way not sure why.
I also have prescription polarized sun glasses, and just either look under them or turn my head until I can see the screen.
I've actually thought you could market polarized glasses with the polarization at a 45 degree angle for people that need to look at digital screens!! might save neck problems in the future.
Just alternate between -45 and +45 to give yourself some equal opportunity neck exercises though out the day 🙂

Cant see the new ranger screen with polarized lenses. Very disappointing.
ha! there goes my nest egg, Shelby!!
Like Blake said, my old Ranger 200 with the monochrome screen works better with polarized lenses. The TSC2 I use with the GPS does not. I just carry two different pair of sunglasses everywhere I go.

Try the Leica viva handsets. They've got a little one with a portrait screen, and a larger one with a landscape screen. However, I bet they use the same panel so one of them may work. I have a hunch the larger cs15 works with polarised glasses.
