Has anybody used the CST/Beger 302r for surveying. If so what do you think of it? We are looking to replace our old Topcon 303-D. Topcon has discontinued all the models we were thinking of getting and pushing the ES model (new with no tract record). We just want a good low cost 5 or 3 second reflectorless instrument. We don't need "no stinking onboard data collection" or other bells and whistles. We were getting a new data collector and will do all the "calcs" in it. The CST/Berer has onboard but at the cost of this instrument we would not mind not using it. Why can't the instrument makers figure out that a lot of us old farts just want a good simple cheap instrument? We will use the data collector for the other stuff. If I wanted Bells & whistles I get a robot. Any sujestions?

Mike, I would steer clear of CST Total Stations due to the fact that there are no service centers in NC for that model right now. If you are looking for a cheaper, more reliable gun I'd stick with one of the bigger names. Reflectorless capabilities on something like a Nikon or a Leica. If you'd like I can put together a quote for you and see what we can get one down to. I'll be in Greensboro the next few days at the convention. Be happy to work with you.
