Got involved with a remote subdivision, in the trees, deep in a dark canyon.
It was an early 20th century plat with some issues to say the least.
The county basically demanded that it be "fixed" and so a long couple of decades trek through mortgages, fighting owners, disputes, surveying, setting corners, resetting corners, ect....

Today only one holdout is left and it's a mortgage holder that didn't like the lot configuration, problem was that the lot is against the river on one side and the access road on the other and there is no way to get the acreage the original plat shows. The owner is fine with the lot but not the mortgage holder.

Soo,,,,,,,, there is a seldom used state law where the county can force it done, and that's what is being enforced.

Finally.......

Only one thing; last time I was there, 12 years ago, I did a solar to get the plat rotation, I had GPS but because of the extreme conditions it was a total no-go.

So I did a solar, it was a quick thing as it peaked between the huge trees shortly disappearing behind the canyon wall.

Went back with the R10 last week, was able to get static control, and RTK some pins, this allowed the subdivision to be tied to a section corner, and to check the rotation of my solar, the solar is 3 degrees from the original plat bearings, and always made me nervous.

Turns out my solar is less than a minute from geodetic and the plat really is off almost 3 degrees.

WHEW!!

Always hated using that solar to draw the plat, just never was able to get back up there with all the legal back and forth.
I wanted to use record bearings, and use the solar as a confirmation, but that didn't work out, 3 degrees is a bit much.......
