I have tried two different "cloud based" free converters, and both did a very
poor job.

Has anyone successfully converted this new fillable pdf to Word?
If so, please email a copy, I sure would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Scott

I have Adobe ver10 and I just tried the save as Word Doc functionality that is built in. It was close but most of the bold or heading type text would've required considerable work to get it looking like the original.

I tried running it through Nuance PDF Converter Pro 7.2 and get the same type of results.

Help us Jimmy Cleveland

I have had no luck getting a conversion to WORD either, but the thread a few weeks ago:
[msg=176384] https://surveyorconnect.com/index.php?mode=thread&id=176384#p176415 [/msg]

Jimmy said he was able to save to hard drive? HOW?

I get this.

Someojne needs to complain about this to FEMA. They can make a PDF that allows you to save the data in the form. Our EPA has a lot of them that are like that. That would prevent tampering with the body but still allow the keyed-in data to be saved.

Elevation Certificate - Adobe Reader enabled

I like a good challenge. I Googled the how-to and modified their standard fillable pdf to allow Adobe Reader users to save their data. I haven't tried it but I think the stamp method someone else outlined will still work for inserting pictures. Here's the Elevation Certificate Fillable - Reader Enabled

Adobe Reader XI allows you to write to and save the data. This is the first Reader that made this possible.

Thanks Stephen.

It's not Word format, but I was able to convert the pdf to that those who only have Adobe Reader are able to save the form with the data. Look for my post above with the link to the converted pdf file.

Yes, you did a good job, I, personally, just wish I could work in Word, I really don't like Adobe for small documents. It has a place for me, just not with small documents.

I took the time to call the FEMA Map Assistance Center 877-336-2627 and asked if I could obtain the source file that the pdf was created from. I was told that they have received a good number of complaints/inquiries about this issue and are working on a Word version. They would not give me a date when the Word version would be available.

Gotta love bureaucracy. Obviously someone created the pdf version from Word or another word processing software so it should be as simple as pulling out the file and making it available.

Stephen,
Thank You, works great. Knew there had to be a simple solution. Was just being lazy one this one.

Help us Jimmy Cleveland

Scott,

Sorry, I just saw this post.

I don't use Adobe Reader, only as a last resort. I use NitroPDF. I was able to save the file through that program.

Sorry for the last reply.

Jimmy

The nice thing about WORD is that you can make bookmark/reference entities that auto complete the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th pages with the redundant address/date information. Saves a little time, I guess.

The new PDF file does that, at least the copy I have does.
