Fenceline survey happens alot. I am working on a whole subdivision done in 1981 and they guy measured (survey would be a misuse of the word) in the fences for the property lines and made lots. Sadly there was plenty more land to be used and it is causing havoc in this area!

10-4. Then how did you get a hold of it? Are you a IES officer or did someone from there forward it to you? I'm not harping, I just think it's a little odd for the local conserves to approach Engineers. It still sounds like the conserves are looking for something free or cheap from someone since they were willing to GPS it themselves.

I would be glad to survey it for free...

If they will give me exclusive hunting rights to it for 10 years.

Wow - that looks like it would be a whole lot cheaper than all these gizmos we use! And no batteries required!!

Dan, The fees submitted were likely to all be discounted.

The kicker would be to find out the membership's employment status and then approach them to contra off the surveying with free plumbing , painting, electrical handyman services from members.... That way user pays!

O no ! Could not do that as I got to conserve.....

I guess I'm somewhat concerned that nobody called the cost "outrageous" in the actual email. They merely said it would be an extreme burden financially. Yes, they are fishing for some sympathy / cheapie / pro-bono volunteer (arguably from the wrong society) to stand up & help them receive this wonderful gift in such a way that they are minimally 'burdened' financially. But you used the term outrageous, not them.

I would set aside my hurt feelings about e-mailing the wrong society and try to help them out if they are a bona fide volunteer organization. But that is just me.
