So this last month, I finally got thru the application process with DORA. I can actually schedule the State Specific at a Testing Center here in San Antonio.Extremely convenient. For New Mexico and Oklahoma, I had to travel to each state. Is this remote testing the norm for other states? just curious.
This is new and part of the movement to computer based testing. Also, the ability to take the test any time during the year instead of just April and October. I think you'll see the conveniences in a lot more states.
I took my Colorado test in Arizona after I took the NCEES test.
Funny story as I was in a room with a dozen other "want-to-be" Surveyors while another huge conference room was set up for the "want-to-be" Engineers. I finished the NCEES and then was shuffled to take the State Specific. For some reason they took me to the room with the Engineers. I walked in during the test and was ushered to the front of the room. No books allowed. Sat down and within an hour of the 4 hour test, I was done. Raised my hand and turned in the test. Got up and walked. Some of the facial expressions I seen as I walked out. LOL! I wish I had a camera.
When I took the PS there was 200 engineers and only 4 surveyors, so I was a needle in a haystack. Checking in everyone is standing around with 94lbs of books each. With only a scale in my back pocket and a couple calculators, I got funny looks. I'd just say " I got this. I don't need any frickin books"
If you're talking state specific remote testing, 1 out of 3 in my region offer it remote. The other 2 are at board office.
