This looks like a good idea.
pretty sharp -
I ran across this review on Amazon.com.
Well, I have on of these for a tester from Oregon cutting. First thing i have noticed is that it is very bouncy, almost like running a Skip-tooth chain on a 20" or less bar, Your Chips will look different than with a normal chain. Keep in mind that It is for regular use, i would not recommend buring chain in dirt just to prove a point. Does sharpen nice an easy. I am running it on my old Stihl 009 saw and i am not impress nor dissapponted. Due to the Kerf being on the top of the tooth it tends to snag more things than a normal chain would. So my review give it a Blah, If you can file a chain correctly, dont worry about it.
saw that on Ask This Old House last night.
What did the guys on "Ask This Old House" say about it?
they seemed to think it was a great idea.
Think I will keep my files. They give you the opportunity to check the chain, bar and the saw itself while sharpening.
jud
Really, it's easy enough to sharpen a chain with a file already. Maybe if I was running the thing all day...
Most motorized chain saw sharpeners shorten a chain's life.
Nothing better than a rat tail file of the correct size for the cutting edge and a flat file to knock down the drag links.
Blasphemous to even think of letting your bar and chain to get into the dirt. That could ruin the whole day.
I bought a new chainsaw and took it out to cut some line.
Well heck, all day long I'm cutting and cutting and only cut down 3 trees (3" diameter).
So I take it back to the shop and tell the guy this saw is a P.O.S!
He says, gimme that! He pulls on the rope and VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
I said, HEY! WHAT'S THAT NOISE!!!
