The Husky FS/2 thread reminds me of a lingering question: I have an Allegro CX running SurveCE that I bought used. Is there a way to backup the SurvCE software to a PC so that it could be reinstalled on the Allegro in the event of a system disaster? I don't have the original installation media (I don't even know what kind of media was originally used).

Thanks.

Jim,

I had a similiar situation with a Topcon FC1000 several years ago. I called Carlson, when I bought the GPS/data collector package. They were kind enough to allow me to transfer the license from the previous owner, and when the data collector died a few months later, they allowed me to transfer the license onto my older Ranger 200T.

Carlson is a top notch outfit, in my personal/business dealings with them, I would give them a call and I would think that they would be able ot help you.

Good luck,
Jimmy

Fire up SurvCE and then navigate to:

  • Equip Tab
  • About SurvCE (note your current version here)
  • Change Registration (note your serial number here)

In the event you ever need to re-install (or get an updated build), visit www.survce.com. You can access the current build(s) using your SurvCE serial number.

I occasionally lose everything in Allegro including the operating system due to a bad C_drive in Allegro. My procedure to get it back takes me 10-15 minutes:

1. Insert Compact Flash card slot in place of Blue tooth card, the compact flash mem card has a copy of the operating system files obtained from Juniper Systems website. I bought the card and a card reader at Staples. Place the Allegro in the Power Dock. When I turned on the Allegro again, the operating system automatically loads into Allegro.
1A. Take out the compact flash memory card and put back in the Bluetooth card. (Your CX probably has built-in Bluetooth).
2. Then I located on my computer the BT.exe file (Bluetooth). I keep the file in a folder called Allegro. I double clicked on that and it automatically installed the blue tooth file into the Allegro.
3. Then I located the SurvCE file and double clicked that. I also keep the SurvCE file in the Allegro folder. It self-installed the SurvCe program into the Allegro. I started the SurvCe program in demo mode.
4. I entered the serial number (.....) and change key (....)
5. My SurvCE setup: Robot com3,19200,8, parity none
6. My GPS setup- hiper lite, hiper lite, 6, slant, 15, RADIO= spread spectrum, Port C, 38400, CMR+, COM5
7. The last touch is to open SurvCE and make your personal settings for your location, instrument, etc.
8. Set the time and date on the Allegro.
9. Keep the battery fully charged. Buy a new battery every two years.

Hope that may be of some help.

Chris in NH
