In the U.S. you will have to be conversant in fractional units on construction sites, e.g. translating decimal feet into feet and inches for some trades. Architectural sheets on the plans are also typically in feet and inches.?ÿ
Humidity is no fun. I have been hot i mean hot and i have been cold i mean cold. But in the south this nasty word called humidity will probably be your biggest issue. The surveying portion you will adapt and figure out. Chiggers may flies mosquitoes that have to be registered with the FAA cottonmouths gators copperheads and whatever else non native creatures that people thought would be good pets. Oh and the luv bugs. Just invest in a good window scraper and windex. I moved to Colorado and was in state mostly above 10k ft for almost 2 years straight. My mom was in a accident so in the middle of august I flew home. Landed in Memphis tn. I got off the plane and it took all of the armed forces to get me off. I instantly began to sweat and not breath lol. So sticky. I never knew it was that bad as I had grew up in the south my whole life until I left and came back. Go ahead an buy some avon skin so soft. Don??t use none of that body spray or soaps in the summer. Bathe with as plain a soap you can. Add a cap or two full of skin so soft to bath water. Soak nightly. It is not perfect but will help some with mosquitoes and may flies. Go ahead and get tested for allergies to fire ants and yellow jackets. That is not a joke. Had one of my crew members from up north get hit. By the time they got him to hospital he was almost in shock . So pay to get tested when you get down so you have an epi pen if needed. Things I never thought of as I been bit by every bug my whole life and until someone you know gets hit you never think about that. I have some good friends in Florida and several old clients. @bill93 ya gotta use tar to smother those darn things. Its been about a while now. When the wife and I first got married we were living out on her place of work in old government housing. I went to do a little fishing in a pond. Flip flops shorts cold brew . I was picking wild blackberries and having a relaxing day. Two days later we were out of town in a hotel and those jokers were given me you know what from my toes to belly button. We almost got divorced as i was scratching like a madman. Went to the local drug store to get the chigger meds i got lucky and they had that tube of black tar looking stuff. My little brother got hit so bad once to this day I remember being at the hospital and the nurse and my grandpa saying boy ya got chiggers on your do jigger. I was probably only about 7 or 8 but have never ever forgot that.
