Yes, Lightsquared scared the crap out of me. The idea of trashing every internal antenna GPS didn't sit well with me, since those are the only types I have. And further, Javad himself said that filtering would likely degrade accuracy and precision. But Javad did more than trying to find a solution. Javad was hired to promote the lightsquared business plan and actively lobbied on their behalf. We really don't know that Trimble and Topcon and Lieca, (etc.) were not working on their own solution behind the scenes, I'm sure they were. But those companies stood by their existing customers and did not try to use lightsquares business plan as a means to force upgrades, "repairs", and obsolescence on to their customers. Javad may very well make the greatest GPS receivers in the world, but he can kiss my (butt).
That's not what I heard. I heard all other GPS makers had a fix too, they just weren't on stage trying to sell it to us. They were fighting to protect our investment.
> And what was bad with Lightsquared? Did that scare you? Didn't even phase me. What I was saying was Javad is a great receiver. Just to check it out. He was the only one trying to work out a solution with lightsquared. Every other manufacturer just sit back and waited/did nothing. He actually did something.
You can gather data for a GIS with cm-level RTK. Many GIS firms are already doing that.
