I've heard plaque used very occasionally.

It wasn't until reading your comment of "...can't help but wonder how our work came to be associated with an award to hang on a wall", that it hit me.  I have a few clients that have framed and hung the survey plat I provided them for their property.  I'm sure others have as well.  I wonder if the clients doing this has led to the use of plaque.  Perhaps it was more common to do so in the past as a source of pride in ownership of the property.

It was a leaps and bounds survey.

Yeah that survey needs framed and hung on a wall- in every school offering survey courses and in the chambers where boards of registration/licensing meet
