I concentrate more on boundary work than other surveying tasks these days. Even my work with energy or utility companies usually only involves boundary tasks.

So yesterday I get a call from a client that needed his property staked for new fencing last fall.?ÿ

The client calls in a panic and says he needs a drawing.?ÿ

I didn't do a drawing since I found all the monuments around his property and they fit to the existing newish plat.?ÿ

Finally, I get out of him that the county is requiring a drawing so he can build a shop. He has hundreds of feet around this new shop before hitting any boundary and there is no need to do a drawing. Plus the subdivision HOA has already approved the location and distance from property lines. It appears that this is some new regulation applied to parcels smaller than 20 acres.?ÿ

So out we go today in a big hurry, messing up other time sensitive work........

Basically I'm stuck since I did the boundary, I try to stay as far from construction work as possible just for this reason.?ÿ

Doh!

At least you got the "Rest of the story..."

Interesting that the local planning authority is able to pass this t]pe of LUC essentially to a lot that big...

Guess they're trying to prevent or control some type of industry from taking advantage of the other regulations pass for lots and parcels bigger than 20 acres....

hmmmm.

It's a new regulation, makes me wonder why they spent so much money on the GIS. The house for this property is almost pinned in the middle of the lot and there is plenty of room around it to place the shop. It's even staked in the field and it doesn't need a drawing to see how clear it is. Oh well. Not work I want, but since it's a client, I'm stuck.?ÿ

As an aside, the PC went out to pick up the layout and got stuck. I went out to help but he had contacted a local who came with his tractor and pulled him out.?ÿ
