We all know about converting an AutoCad drawing to a .pdf.
Is there a simple, straightforward way to lock an AutoCad drawing, so in passing it on, it cannot be altered ?
Thank you,
Cheers,
Derek
Yes, you can download a free program like "Bull Zip PDF makers" (which I use because it had a high rating on some review I read). It acts like a print driver, so after you install it "Bullzip" appears in your list of printers, and you "print" it like your sending it to a printer, except you get a pop-up screen to save your PDF file.
There are many versions of PDF printers, and they all work great. Just watch out of one that have malware junk attached.
A long while back, I was looking for something similar.
Someone on the internet had developed a lisp that would block a drawing and make it unexplodable (newly minted word). It might still be floating around out in the cyber world.

Perhaps this will work.
Here's an autodesk thread.

I know there are product, but any CAD monkey will be able to work around any lock... oohh oohh oohh, ahh ahh ahh.

I think they would block the drawing out...insert with different X and Y scale...mirror it...rotate it...(using prompted input values - combination lock)...block the drawing back out and re-insert using the reciprocal values. This would give you a drawing file that looked correct but would be 'un-explodable'.

Not fool proof, but might help in a pinch:
When I send a drawing to someone and I don't want it to be tampered with, I use the following procedure:
1. Start a new drawing.
2. Enter MINSERT on the command line.
3. When prompted for the name, enter the full path of the drawing to protect.
4. For the insertion point, enter 0,0.
5. Enter 1 for the X & Y factor.
6. Rotation angle = 0.
7. Number of rows = 2.
8. Number of columns = 1.
9. Distance between rows = 0.
The drawing cannot be exploded or revised. ....
Roadburner-
Is there away to contact you directly as we are having trouble with MINSERT.
We are working on AutoCad 2010LT
Thank you

I don't know if that will work on AcadLT, since I've never used it. I copied that procedure from the autodesk website. It works for me on Acad 2004...
Thanks All.
We ended up putting a snazzy disclaimer and copyright warning on the drawing that includes Section 29. 3 :
