This came from our NW Montana MARLS Chapter President-
"Kim Wunderlich was attacked by a grizzly bear Friday the 17th on a hunting trip in southwest Montana. They believe this was the same bear that attacked the Bozeman bow hunter the weekend before. Kim is home and will make a full recovery, but he will be laid up for about a month. Please keep Kim in your thoughts and prayers."

(Kim is a local PLS, and teaches GPS courses at FVCC)

On a work-related note- the GC on one of the projects I was on today backed over his grade-setter with a 1-ton pick-up- scuffed him up pretty good, but they dismissed him from the hospital this afternoon- haven't heard how his rover was....

Well, I don't know what to say other than he should have had a S&W .500 on his hip for right then.

I'd be interested in hearing JUST how that played out and what and where he was when it happened.

Other than that, hope he makes a full recovery and goes and exacts revenge on the SOB.

Up in Alaska they test bear scat to see why they get aggressive around people.

They usually find the scat full of bells and smelling like pepper spray....:-P

Twelve gauge or Ten gauge semi-auto shotgun with 3-1/2 chamber, extended magazine and loaded with slugs @1.5oz. or 650 grains each or maybe some 000 buck would be better.

A 1895 Winchester or Marlin in 45-70 wouldn't be bad either with 550gr soft points.

Carried in a combat sling leaves both hands free and actually quicker into action than the S&W.

Agreed, I was just thinking of the weight with the pistol and the ability to still hold the hunting rifle. Although, I think the slug would do more than the .500 would.
