Has anyone attempted to Recell a battery in
a Topcon Hiper GPS receiver.
Could one remove the battery and take
it to Battery Plus for a new one.

This is an older reciever and not under warranty.

I just have never opened the thing up to look inside. Yet

Thanks

they are easy to replace.

take your time and pay attention when you take it apart. don't crimp the wires while putting it back together or you will short it out.

you can find the batteries on ebay. or any topcon dealer will have them.

nope

each one has a connector. if your new battery does not have the connector you will have to cut it off of the old one and solder it on the new one. but all of the ones i have seen have the connector on them already.

FYI: There are 2 bats, one down each side. The circuit boards just slide into grooves in teh alum extrusions, so they will move a little. You will have to gently pry the gaskets off the faceplates, and the bats will just slide right out of each side. Yes they have connectors. And as others said, the biggest thing is to go slow and make sure the wires don't get pinched. I have never checked, but I would call a dealer and see if you can get the rubber gaskets too. The bats are available from a few bat re-cellers now (nothing to recell, just replace them) probably a board sponser here, and I know I have seen them on my ebay alerts too.
